Mattel and WWE team up for AAA Lucha Libre action figures, featuring Mr. Iguana at Comic-Con

Mattel is expanding its collaboration with WWE by incorporating Mexico's Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide into a new line of action figures. The announcement, made during a joint panel at San Diego Comic-Con, revealed that the figures will be inspired by Mexican wrestlers and their dramatic storylines, complete with their signature masks and costumes.

The partnership aims to capture the cultural legacy of AAA, a prominent Mexican wrestling promotion. Nick Karamanos, Senior Director of Entertainment Partnerships at Mattel, highlighted the appeal of AAA's characters for collectors, calling their inclusion the "next chapter" in the collaboration. The figures are slated for release in the fall of 2027.

This initiative builds upon the existing integration between WWE and AAA, which began in August 2025. A standout reveal was the Mr. Iguana figure, representing the wrestler from Culiacán, Sinaloa, known for his unconventional style. The figure meticulously recreates his green mask, body paint, and his plush iguana companion, "La Yesca," and features multiple articulation points for dynamic posing.

Beyond Mr. Iguana, the collection is expected to feature other prominent AAA wrestlers who have participated in WWE-related events, including Psycho Clown, El Hijo del Vikingo, and La Parka. Fans anticipate further announcements of iconic AAA wrestlers, potentially making this collection a significant draw for Mexican wrestling enthusiasts who value the sport's identity and tradition. Mattel's venture seeks to bring these celebrated national wrestling figures, led by Mr. Iguana, to shelves worldwide, generating considerable excitement among collectors and fans of both WWE and AAA.
