Maxim Launches Electric Vehicle Ride-Hailing Service in Indonesia's Jabodetabek Region

Maxim, an online transportation platform, has officially launched its Car EV service across the Jabodetabek region, encompassing Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. This expansion into electric vehicle rides aims to contribute to reducing pollution and fostering cleaner urban environments through eco-friendly technology.

Currently, Maxim has over 4,000 electric vehicles registered in its system throughout Indonesia. A significant portion of these vehicles are already operational in Jabodetabek, with plans to gradually introduce more as the service expands to other cities. Driver partners utilizing the Car EV service will benefit from lower and more favorable commission rates.

The Jabodetabek area was chosen as the initial launch zone due to its challenging conditions, including heavy traffic, high temperatures, and congestion. Maxim intends to use this testing ground to ensure the reliability of its technology before extending the service to other parts of Indonesia. While Car EV fares are slightly higher than conventional car services, passengers and drivers will experience the advantages of EVs, such as quieter cabins, reduced vibrations, and zero emissions, particularly during peak hours.

Dirhamsyah, Development Director of Maxim Indonesia, highlighted the cost efficiencies driving the Car EV service. He noted that electric vehicles help drivers save on fuel and maintenance costs, as they eliminate the need for oil changes, belt replacements, and spark plug maintenance. Furthermore, an increasing number of passengers are opting for eco-friendly transportation through the app, boosting demand for electric vehicle services.

The inaugural Car EV journey utilized a VinFast VF e34, traveling from the industrial port area in Tanjung Priok to a business district in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta. Maxim stated that the current number of electric vehicles is just the beginning, with daily registrations increasing. The company plans to expand the EV fleet and introduce the service in other Indonesian regions by the end of the year, following sufficient operational data collection from Jabodetabek. The Car EV service is currently available in two options: Regular and Premium.
