Maxima permanently closes Kaunas store

The Lithuanian retail chain Maxima has announced the permanent closure of one of its stores located near the Nemunas and M. K. Čiurlionis bridges in Kaunas. The store is scheduled to cease operations on Monday, August 17th, after remaining open through the preceding Sunday.

Maxima's Head of Media Relations, Ernesta Vareikytė, stated that following this closure, customers will still have convenient access to shopping at the "Akropolis" Maxima store, which is described as a "three X" (likely indicating a larger format) store located within the "Akropolis" shopping and entertainment center.

The decision to permanently close the Kaunas store was attributed to the necessity of significant investment, which the company deemed incompatible with the current customer traffic and operational viability of that specific location. This follows a similar announcement last week regarding the permanent closure of a Maxima store on Minties Street in Vilnius.

After closing our smallest network store located right next to the Nemunas or M. K. Čiurlionis bridge, customers will be able to shop conveniently every day at the three X "Maxima" in the "Akropolis" shopping and entertainment center.
