May Kyrgyzstan’s Red Flag Fly Forever, Says Marlen Mamataliyev

Kyrgyzstan’s red flag should fly forever over a peaceful and united country, parliamentary speaker Marlen Mamataliyev said in a message marking the nation’s 35th anniversary of independence.

Mamataliyev described Aug. 31 as “a great and sacred day in the history of our people.” He said independence represented a sacred legacy inherited from the country’s ancestors, and that strengthening it remained the duty of every citizen.

The speaker said Kyrgyzstan was entering a new stage of development under President Sadyr Japarov. He pointed to efforts to strengthen the country’s economic and state capacity, as well as its position on the international stage.

Mamataliyev also highlighted the hosting of a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit and the sixth World Nomad Games during the independence celebrations. He presented those events as evidence of national development and growing international authority.

He ended by wishing families happiness, good health, prosperity and well-being, saying: “May peace always reign in our Ala-Too, and may unity and harmony grow among the people. May the red flag of independent Kyrgyzstan fly forever!”
