Mbah seeks 6,580 teachers, others for smart schools

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has authorized the recruitment of 6,580 individuals for various positions across public primary and junior secondary schools. The initiative places a significant emphasis on staffing the state's 267 Smart Green Schools, many of which are still under construction.

The approved vacancies span academic, technical, and administrative functions. The Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) is seeking 4,698 teachers for core subjects like Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, and History. Additionally, the board aims to hire 520 Digital Librarians, 380 Experiential Learning Innovators, 267 Guidance and Counsellors, 267 ICT Staff, and 267 Laboratory Attendants, along with 136 Account Officers and 45 Technicians.

Specific qualifications are required for these roles. Teaching applicants need a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, an HND with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or a Nigeria Certificate in Education in their respective subject areas. Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria is mandatory. Non-teaching roles have varying requirements, from specialized degrees to Ordinary National Diplomas and SSCE/WASSCE certificates for positions like Laboratory Attendants and ICT staff.

All candidates applying with a Degree or HND must possess a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Practical ICT proficiency is a universal requirement. ENSUBEB stressed that the application process is entirely free and set a deadline of Friday, August 14, 2026, for submissions. Applicants must submit a formal letter, curriculum vitae, copies of credentials, proof of age, and valid contact information.
