MDB urges urgency to approve end of 6x1 scale this year

Following the Senate President Davi Alcolumbre's action to unblock priority government proposals, the MDB party is now demanding swift progress on these key initiatives. Among the most pressing is the proposed end to the 6x1 work scale, a measure the party has firmly backed.

The MDB has also committed to other significant proposals, including the PEC da Segurança (Security Constitutional Amendment Proposal) and a project to establish a National Policy for Critical Minerals. The party is now calling on the presidents of the relevant committees and the designated rapporteurs to expedite the review process.

Senator Eduardo Braga, the MDB party leader, emphasized the need for both thorough technical examination and timely deliberation by the full Senate. He stated that the party wants to ensure the proposals can be voted on within the current semester, highlighting their urgency.

One of the priority issues unblocked by Alcolumbre, the critical minerals policy, is expected to be reported on by an MDB member. The selection of this rapporteur is imminent, with Braga or Senator Renan Calheiros being the likely candidates. Braga, speaking for the party, views the Senate's current actions as a decisive step toward maturing the debate within Congress.

The MDB asserts that these projects can no longer be postponed and is pressing for urgent legislative action. Some within the government believe that the proposals could even be voted on before the upcoming elections, despite the legislative recess.
