Media must not only report, but touch hearts

Vietnamese officials have stressed the critical role of journalism in navigating the modern information landscape, urging media organizations to be more proactive and impactful. Trịnh Văn Quyết, head of the Central Propaganda and Information Department, highlighted the challenge posed by the rapid expansion of social media and the emergence of AI capable of generating content instantly.

The future of every nation is shaped not merely by the size of its population, but by the opportunities available to its people, especially its young population.

Quyết noted that traditional journalistic processes, involving multiple layers of review, can make it difficult for news outlets to "dominate" the information space if they are not fast, sharp, and forward-thinking. He emphasized that policy communication is a responsibility shared across the political system, requiring active participation from ministries and agencies to provide journalists with necessary materials.

Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Thị Thanh Trà acknowledged the media's significant role in covering historical events and pledged improved government support. This includes a more structured approach to information dissemination through communication plans, press conferences, and official spokespersons. A shared database for policy communication is also planned, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism tasked to collaborate on its development.

Agreement reached to sell a 10% interest in NNPCL-SEPNU JV to NNPC Ltd. The headline transaction value of $281.6m represents 25 per cent of Seplat’s acquisition costs to date.
