Medical assistant's dream of returning home cut short by fatal crash

A tragic road accident in Kota Tinggi, Johor, has claimed the life of Muhamad Amin Mukhtar, a 35-year-old medical assistant, cutting short his aspirations to return to his hometown. Muhamad Amin had been working at Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI) in Johor Bahru for the past seven years.

He had served at HSI for seven years. He planned to sell his house in Johor and buy a new one in Terengganu to live with our mother.

His sister, Rohana Mukhtar, 54, shared that Muhamad Amin had recently expressed a strong desire to transfer his work location to Terengganu. He had planned to sell his house in Johor and purchase a new one in Terengganu to live closer to their mother. This wish was particularly poignant as he had previously been hesitant about moving back, but this time he was reportedly very determined.

He was very determined to return to his hometown and live with our mother.

The siblings last met during a wedding ceremony in Setiu, Terengganu, the weekend prior to the accident. During their conversation, Muhamad Amin reiterated his intention to move back home. Rohana noted a subtle change in his demeanor during their last meeting, describing him as quieter than usual. Their mother had also observed that Muhamad Amin seemed different, noting he wasn't holding his phone during their conversation, which was unusual for him.

We received information that he was involved in the fatal accident around 6 p.m.

Colleagues of Muhamad Amin also mentioned that he had apologized to them before leaving for Terengganu for a holiday, an act that now seems like a foreboding sign. The accident occurred at Kilometer 80 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing at approximately 5:25 p.m. Muhamad Amin's car collided with a Toyota Vios that had veered into the oncoming lane. The crash tragically also resulted in the deaths of the 21-year-old driver of the Toyota Vios, Muhamad Shuhairil Soraiya, and his 20-year-old passenger, Nur Fatin Nabilah Yusrishahrun.
