Medical Student Found Dead in Dormitory; Investigation Underway

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) is investigating the death of Tuğçenaz Demirelöz, a 20-year-old first-year medical student, who was discovered deceased in her dormitory room on the evening of June 27. The incident occurred in a women's dormitory in the Kozlu district.

Demirelöz's family became concerned when they could not contact her and asked her friends to check on her. Upon entering her room, a friend found Demirelöz unresponsive on the floor and immediately contacted emergency services. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical personnel confirmed Demirelöz had passed away.

Her body was transported to the morgue at Atatürk State Hospital for an autopsy. Friends at the dormitory expressed shock and deep sadness over the incident. Preliminary reports suggest Demirelöz had recently visited a doctor who identified a heart rhythm disorder.

Demirelöz had reportedly just moved into her dorm and began unpacking her belongings on the day she was found. The exact cause of her death will be determined following the autopsy. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
