Mega-operation by Carabineros and PDI yields 1,341 arrests nationwide

A sweeping national operation by Chile's Carabineros and PDI police forces has concluded with 1,341 individuals arrested and 862 kilograms of illegal drugs seized. The government lauded the results of the extensive operation, which targeted various locations across the country.

Public Security Minister Martín Arrau reported that the four-hour operation involved a total of 36,416 inspections and controls. Carabineros made 656 arrests, while the PDI apprehended 685 people. Of the total arrests, 496 were for crimes in progress, 589 were related to existing judicial orders, and 256 were specifically targeted arrests.

In addition to the drug seizure, authorities confiscated 25 firearms of various types. Furthermore, 102 vehicles connected to criminal offenses or reported stolen were seized. The PDI also controlled 1,464 foreign nationals, identifying 300 as violators of immigration laws and initiating 33 administrative and judicial expulsion processes.
