Meloni thanks Milei and other leaders for congratulations on government longevity record

Giorgia Meloni has thanked several international leaders for congratulating her after her government became the longest-serving in Italy’s history.

The Italian prime minister responded on X to messages from Argentina’s President Javier Milei, Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo, Poland’s Karol Nawrocki, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Cyprus’s Nikos Christodoulides. Meloni reached 1,413 consecutive days at the head of the government, surpassing the record previously held by Silvio Berlusconi’s second government.

In her reply to Milei, with whom she maintains a close political and personal relationship, Meloni emphasized what she described as shared values between Italy and Argentina. “We share values, ideas and above all the conviction that courage, consistency and determination are needed to build the future we imagine,” she wrote.

She added that the achievements so far were “above all the beginning of a new challenge” and said she wanted to continue working with Milei to strengthen ties between the two “sister nations.” To Nawrocki, she expressed thanks for his friendship and stressed the importance of a strong Europe and citizens’ security.

Meloni told Erdoğan that she wanted to deepen dialogue between Rome and Ankara on the Mediterranean, security and regional stability. In her message to Chapo, she highlighted the Mattei Plan as part of cooperation between Italy and Mozambique. She thanked Christodoulides for his words and praised collaboration between Italy and Cyprus to advance a more stable and secure Mediterranean.
