Mercado Libre Delivery Driver Arrested for Robbery Involvement

A man working as a delivery driver for Mercado Libre has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a robbery targeting the e-commerce company. The arrest came after police stopped a vehicle in the La Pintana area and discovered it was filled with various items belonging to Mercado Libre.

In circumstances that (officials of) Carabineros were carrying out (this Tuesday) controls in the sector of La Pintana, they spotted a vehicle, which was subjected to control, and inside various articles of the company Mercado Libre were found.

According to Chief Prosecutor Juan Cheuquiante of the Metropolitan South Regional Prosecutor's Office, officers on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle. A subsequent inspection revealed numerous Mercado Libre products inside. Further investigation determined that these items had been stolen during a violent robbery that occurred earlier that morning in the northern part of the Metropolitan Region.

Subsequent investigations made it possible to determine that said elements had been stolen in the early hours of Monday by a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation that occurred in the northern sector of the Metropolitan Region.

The operation led to the apprehension of two individuals found in the vehicle. Crucially, the investigation also uncovered that a third person, initially considered a victim of the robbery, was also arrested. This individual, who was working as a delivery driver, was found to have participated in the crime after initially being targeted.

However, the procedure concluded not only with the detention of these two persons (who were on board the vehicle surprised in La Pintana), but also of another person who initially had the status of a victim in this event.
