MercadoLibre to invest $91 million in storage center in Argentina

E-commerce giant MercadoLibre announced a significant investment of $91 million to construct a new storage and distribution center in Argentina. The facility, slated for Estación Juárez Celman in Córdoba province, will span 60,000 square meters and is designed to serve the central and northern regions of the country.

This new distribution hub represents MercadoLibre's fifth in Argentina and is projected to generate 2,000 direct jobs. The company stated the center will have the capacity to store up to six million products. The project is being developed in partnership with Plaza Logística, which has previously built four logistics centers for MercadoLibre in Argentina. The facility is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2027.

MercadoLibre, founded in Argentina in 1999, operates in 18 Latin American countries and is listed on the Nasdaq in the United States. The company reported a net profit of $466 million in the second quarter of this year, a slight decrease of 10.8% compared to the same period last year. Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina are considered its primary markets.

The developer Plaza Logística will carry out this project as part of an alliance that has already built four logistics centers for MercadoLibre in Argentina. The estimated commissioning date is planned for the end of 2027.
