Mercedes VLE: A luxury lounge, family van, or gear hauler

Mercedes-Benz introduces the VLE, a fully electric multi-purpose vehicle that redefines versatility and passenger comfort. This new model, succeeding the EQV, aims to cater to a wide range of needs, from large families to business transport and recreational activities.

The VLE's standout feature is its innovative seat system, which simplifies the process of reconfiguring the interior. Unlike traditional vans that require laborious seat removal and reinstallation, the VLE's seats can be easily detached from their rails and slid out of the vehicle with minimal effort. Reinstalling them is just as straightforward, involving sliding them back onto the rails until they audibly lock into place.

This user-friendly system allows the VLE to be configured for various purposes. It can accommodate up to eight passengers, still offering a substantial 795 liters of cargo space. If all seats are removed, the cargo capacity expands dramatically to 4078 liters, enough to transport two standard beer pallets.

During initial testing, the six-seater configuration, featuring four individual rear seats, proved particularly practical. This setup offers maximum flexibility, providing ample space for passengers and luggage, and even accommodating skis in the central area during colder months. For those needing more cargo room, converting it to a four-seater allows for significant storage space on one side, with room for two mountain bikes on the other.

Despite its van-like dimensions and cargo capacity, the VLE's interior offers a luxurious ambiance akin to a high-end sedan. The driver and front passenger areas are equipped with a modern digital cockpit, featuring a 10.3-inch instrument display and two 14-inch central displays. These screens allow for streaming videos or playing games, enhancing the overall passenger experience.
