Messi donates 80,000 euros to rebuild Madrid wildfire-ravaged areas

Football superstar Lionel Messi has contributed 80,000 euros towards the recovery efforts in the Madrid region, which was devastated by a significant wildfire. The blaze scorched over 27,000 hectares and necessitated the evacuation of more than 55,000 people.

Regional President Isabel Ayuso announced Messi's donation on social media, expressing gratitude and stating that Madrid residents hope to welcome and applaud him soon. The wildfire, one of the largest recorded in the region, required a week of intensive firefighting to bring under control.

This act of generosity adds to Messi's philanthropic record. Spanish newspaper Marca reported that the 39-year-old has previously supported the Red Cross for wildfire relief in other parts of Spain and aided victims of flooding in the Valencia region. He also dedicated over three million euros to a pediatric cancer treatment center at the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Catalonia.
