Meteotsunami Floods Croatian Coast, Firefighters on High Alert

The incident occurred amidst forecasts of increasingly unstable weather across the Adriatic coast. Meteorologists predicted thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds, with a risk of severe storms and hail, particularly along the coast and nearby areas. The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service issued a yellow warning, indicating potential hazards, while Estofex placed the Croatian part of the Adriatic under a Level 2 warning.

In response to the anticipated severe weather, including strong southerly winds and the possibility of thunderstorms, local authorities in Supetar, on the island of Brač, raised concerns about an increased risk of fires. The mayor placed all firefighting units on high alert and urged the public and tourists to exercise caution and report any signs of fire immediately. The forecast suggests a stabilization of weather conditions and a gradual temperature increase starting Monday.
