Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has reiterated her opposition to U.S. tariff policies, advocating for alternative approaches to bolster regional economic strength. During a regular press conference, Sheinbaum asserted that more effective methods exist for resolving international trade disputes and enhancing economic ties across the Americas.

"We have never agreed with the tariff policy. In fact, no other country has either," Sheinbaum stated at the presidential palace. "Because we believe there are many other good ways to strengthen our region's economy and improve relations between countries."

Her comments arrive as opposition to former President Donald Trump's trade policies intensifies within the United States. This domestic dissent includes lawsuits filed by trade partners and objections from 25 U.S. states against the imposition of new, comprehensive tariffs on imports. The legal challenges, lodged with the U.S. Court of International Trade, contest the proposed 10% to 12.5% additional tariffs.

Sheinbaum's stance aligns with a broader sentiment among some international partners who view unilateral tariff actions as detrimental to global economic stability and cooperation.
