Mexican Stock Market Edges Up 0.06% for Fourth Straight Gain

Mexico's stock market, the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV), continued its upward trend, closing with a 0.06% gain and achieving its fourth consecutive session of increases. The Índice de Precios y Cotizaciones (IPC) reached 65,770.85 points, reflecting a mixed performance across global markets.

Gabriela Siller, director of Economic Financial Analysis at Grupo Financiero Base, noted that this marks the longest streak of gains for the IPC since mid-June. Within the Mexican market, notable advances were seen in companies such as Gentera, which rose 3.15%, Coca-Cola FEMSA (2.97%), FEMSA (1.71%), Sigma (1.62%), and Arca Continental (1.6%).

The capital market closed the session with mixed results among the main stock indices globally (...) In Mexico, the BMV's IPC closed the session with a gain of 0.06%, marking four consecutive sessions of gains, which had not happened from June 11 to 16.

Enrique Covarrubias, director of Economic Analysis at Actinver, reported that the accumulated return for 2026 stands at 2.27%, although the market has seen a 1.74% decrease for the month. Out of the 35 companies comprising the IPC index, 17 closed in positive territory. Conversely, GAP, Industrias Peñoles, and GCC were among the biggest laggards.

In currency markets, the Mexican peso depreciated by 0.24% against the U.S. dollar, trading at 16.96 pesos per dollar. Trading volume on the BMV reached 135.4 million shares, valued at 9,432 million pesos (approximately $556 million USD). Of the 717 companies traded, 332 saw price increases, 357 experienced losses, and 28 remained unchanged.

At the issuer level, 17 of the 35 companies that make up the index closed in positive territory. Downward, GAP, Industrias Peñoles, and GCC were the most lagging.
