Mexico and Cuba win gold in double scull rowing at Central American Games

Mexico and Cuba dominated the double scull rowing events, claiming gold medals at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games held in Santo Domingo.

The Mexican pair, Melissa Márquez and Aylin Ibarra, completed the course in 7 minutes and 19.85 seconds to secure the women's double scull title. They edged out the Cuban team of Rayma Ortiz and Loraidis Echavarría, who finished with a time of 7:24.46 to take the silver medal. The duo from Guatemala, Lesli González and Nicolle González, secured the bronze with a time of 7:54.00.

In the men's double scull, Cuban rowers Eduar Suárez and Reidy Cardona clinched the gold medal, finishing in 6 minutes and 32.80 seconds. The silver medal went to the Mexican team of Alexis López and Andre Sumsch, who clocked in at 6:37.38, trailing the Cuban winners. Venezuela's José Guipe and César Amaris took the bronze with a time of 6:39.62.

The host nation's Dominican rowers, Ignacio Vásquez and Jancarlos Tineo, finished in fourth place with a time of 6:50.36. The rowing competitions are taking place at the Rincón dam, located about 95 kilometers north of Santo Domingo.
