Nyck de Vries wins Tokyo's second race, Jake Dennis takes championship lead

Nyck de Vries of Mahindra Racing secured his second victory of the season at the Tokyo E-Prix on Sunday, navigating a strategic race to claim the win. The Dutch driver, who had a challenging Saturday, found an improved setup for the electric single-seater race.

British driver Jake Dennis, competing for Andretti, finished third in Tokyo. This podium finish propelled him into the lead of the Formula E championship standings. Dennis capitalized on the misfortunes of his rivals, including former championship leader Mitch Evans (Jaguar) and Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), neither of whom scored significant points in the Tokyo event.

De Vries, starting from fifth position, made a decisive move on lap 28 during his 'attack mode' activation. He overtook several drivers, including the reigning Formula E champion Oliver Rowland, and maintained his lead to the checkered flag. This victory marks a significant turnaround for de Vries in the current season.

With the championship battle intensifying, Dennis now holds a narrow two-point lead over Evans, with Wehrlein closely behind. The season finale, featuring two races in London on August 15-16, will decide the GEN3 vehicle era champion. Dennis, who previously won the title in Season 9, will be looking to secure his second championship on home soil.
