Mexico City Extends Tax Relief Program Through September

Mexico City's administration has announced an extension of its tax regularization program, now offering benefits until September 30. This initiative provides citizens with discounts and special payment plans for property taxes, water services, and traffic fines.

The program introduces special flat rates for property tax payments, set at 1,000 pesos for housing and 2,000 pesos for small businesses in specific valuation ranges. For water services, discounts range from 50% for domestic use to 30% for mixed-use and 20% for non-domestic purposes. Additionally, those with historical water debt for domestic use will receive a 100% discount on surcharges.

Motorists stand to benefit significantly from a 90% discount on traffic fines issued between 2019 and 2025. This reduction applies specifically to non-serious administrative offenses, excluding violations like bus lane encroachment. The Secretary of Administration and Finance, Juan Pablo de Botton, clarified that these discounts are for minor infractions, emphasizing their application to non-grave offenses.
