Mexico City Issues Yellow Alert for Rain and Hail in 10 Boroughs

Mexico City residents are bracing for inclement weather as the Secretariat of Integral Risk and Civil Protection has activated a yellow alert across 10 of the capital's boroughs. The forecast calls for significant rainfall, potentially accompanied by hail, throughout the afternoon and evening on Monday.

The alert specifically targets areas including Álvaro Obregón, Azcapotzalco, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztapalapa, Magdalena Contreras, Miguel Hidalgo, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco. Citizens in these zones can expect between 15 and 29 millimeters of rain, increasing the risk of flash floods and localized inundations.

Authorities are urging the public to take necessary precautions. This includes carrying rain gear, ensuring drainage systems are clear of debris to prevent blockages, and exercising extreme caution while driving. The potential for fallen trees and other debris poses additional hazards on roadways. This proactive advisory aims to mitigate the impact of the severe weather and ensure public safety across the affected districts.
