Mexico City Launches Tenders for Water Network Rehabilitation and Pressure Monitoring

The Secretariat of Integral Water Management (Segiagua) in Mexico City has initiated two public tenders aimed at improving the city's water infrastructure and monitoring systems. These tenders, identified as SEGIAGUA-SPP-LP-016-2026 and SEGIAGUA-SPP-LP-017-2026, signal a commitment to addressing critical water management challenges.

The first tender targets the rehabilitation of water networks in the Gustavo A. Madero delegation. The project will employ a trenchless technology known as reversible pull-in with a thermoplastic-coated liner, a method designed to minimize disruption by avoiding extensive excavation. This approach is crucial for maintaining urban functionality while upgrading essential water supply systems.

The second tender focuses on enhancing water pressure monitoring across Mexico City. It involves the installation, measurement, linking, and communication of pressure transmitters within the potable water networks. This initiative aims to provide real-time data for better management and to ensure consistent water pressure throughout the metropolitan area.

Both tenders have stringent requirements for participating companies. For the rehabilitation project, firms must have at least three contracts in the past five years for similar-sized and technically comparable pipe installation, rehabilitation, maintenance, or renewal projects using trenchless technologies. Similarly, the pressure monitoring tender requires a minimum of two contracts in the last five years for comparable work, including the setup and integration of pressure transmitters and monitoring systems, automation of valves, and data transmission to SCADA platforms.
