Mexico City's Cablebús Line 3 Resumes Service After Annual Maintenance

The Line 3 Cablebús, connecting Constituyentes to Vasco de Quiroga in Mexico City, is back to its regular operating schedule. The annual maintenance, which commenced on July 13, concluded on Sunday, July 26. This essential upkeep aimed to ensure the continued safety and functionality of the aerial tramway system.

The comprehensive maintenance program included preventive work on the line's electromechanical systems, cabins, and towers. Additionally, specialists conducted thorough inspections of the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components. A key part of this year's work involved the rehabilitation of seven sample balance beams situated along the route.

During a tour of the maintenance operations, Ramiro Alvarado, Operations and Maintenance Manager for the cable car network, explained the process. He highlighted that mechanical inspections focus on examining all moving parts for wear and tear, confirming their safe operation. This year, six towers were dismantled to inspect rollers, pulleys, and balance beams. These components underwent non-destructive testing before reassembly. Electromechanical inspections were also performed across the entire infrastructure to verify the condition of components and guarantee proper functioning.
