Mexico City Metro Line 12 Collapse: More Victims Added to Prosecution

Mexico City's Attorney General's Office (FGJ) has expanded its imputations against alleged responsible parties in the collapse of Metro Line 12, incorporating more victims of injuries from the incident.

Bertha Alcalde Luján, the Attorney General, stated that some injured individuals had not been included in previous judicializations. These victims have now been identified, and agreements have been reached. However, their cases were not initially part of the imputations against officials.

There were some injured individuals, I don't have the list at this moment, for whom the judicialization that had been done for the officials who were imputed at the time, had not been done corresponding to these victims, who are already identified and for whom a settlement agreement has been reached, but their imputation was not included in the process for the officials.

Alcalde Luján explained that the investigation into the collapse of an elevated section of Line 12 is in its intermediate stage. She clarified that the newly added victims are linked to the same events of May 3, 2021, but represent different individuals affected by the disaster. "It is not that there are new defendants or new facts to investigate; it is the same case, but it was very important that we could also judicialize the cases of the victims who remained pending," she said.

The FGJ's action ensures that all affected individuals are accounted for within the legal process, reinforcing the ongoing judicialization of the case stemming from the tragic collapse.
