Mexico City Prosecutor Investigates Property Dispossession, Proposes Working Groups

Mexico City's Prosecutor's Office (FGJ) is actively investigating a potential property dispossession in the Colonia Del Valle, prompted by a complaint filed by a local resident. The ongoing investigation has led to a neighborhood blockade in the area.

The complaint was lodged on Tuesday, July 21. Since then, the Public Ministry has engaged the Investigative Police to gather evidence. Their efforts include collecting video recordings, examining property documents, and reconstructing the events surrounding the alleged dispossession. The FGJ has also summoned the complainant to provide further details, present documentation related to the property's possession and ownership, and allow for expert examination of the site.

This is not the first complaint concerning the property. The FGJ noted two earlier reports filed by the same individual in June: one for trespassing and another for theft of objects. While these incidents are distinct from the current dispossession claim, they indicate a history of disputes related to the inmueble.

Personnel from the FGJ's Citizen Attention unit visited the protest site in Del Valle to listen to the demonstrators' concerns and gather information. The office has proposed establishing working groups to address each case individually, pending approval from the protesting residents. The aim is to thoroughly review the situation and offer support throughout the legal process.
