Mexico Dominates Central American and Caribbean Games Medal Table

Mexico is firmly in the lead at the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, establishing a considerable gap over its closest rivals. The Mexican delegation has excelled in disciplines such as diving, shooting, cycling, and swimming, securing the top spot in the overall medal standings.

Colombia holds a strong second position, bolstered by outstanding performances in track events, cycling, and weightlifting. Cuba remains in third place, relying on its traditional strength in combat sports and team disciplines. Venezuela is in fourth place, with Puerto Rico applying pressure in fifth, particularly in table tennis.

The host nation, Dominican Republic, is in sixth place. While it has accumulated more total medals than Puerto Rico (74 versus 68), the tie-breaking criteria prioritize the number of gold medals won, placing Puerto Rico ahead in the standings.

Panama currently sits in twelfth place with a total of 12 medals: two gold, five silver, and five bronze. Notable contributions to Panama's tally include Emily Santos's three silver medals in swimming, and bronze medals won in wrestling and taekwondo. Other disciplines like chess, surfing, and road cycling have also contributed to the medal count.
