Panama Aims for Medals in Baseball Super Round at Central American Games

Panama's baseball team is set to compete in the Super Round of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, carrying an undefeated record from the group stage.

The Super Round is a crucial phase in baseball tournaments where the top six teams from the preliminary round face off to earn a place in the medal games. This format, often used in World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) events, requires teams to carry over their records from games played against other qualified teams during the preliminary phase. Panama enters this stage with two wins and no losses, having defeated Nicaragua 1-0 and Colombia 3-0.

In the Super Round, Panama will face new opponents: Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Cuba also enters the round undefeated with two wins. Puerto Rico has one win and one loss, while the Dominican Republic has suffered two defeats.

The schedule for Panama is as follows: they will play against Cuba on Tuesday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m. (Panama time), followed by a game against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, August 5, at 6:00 p.m. Panama time. Their final Super Round match will be against Puerto Rico on Thursday, August 6, at 2:00 p.m. Panama time. All games will be held at the Quisqueya Stadium.

The two teams with the best records in the Super Round will advance to the gold medal game, while the next two will compete for the bronze medal. These medal matches are scheduled to take place on Friday, August 7.
