Mexico Qualifies for 2027 Bocuse d’Or World Final

Mexican gastronomy has once again made its mark on the international stage, with the country securing one of five continental berths for the prestigious 2027 Bocuse d’Or world final in Lyon, France. This culinary competition is widely regarded as the "Olympics of haute cuisine."

During the Bocuse d’Or Americas elimination round in New Orleans, the Mexican team competed against representatives from eight other nations. They successfully positioned themselves alongside the United States, Canada, Colombia, and Argentina as the qualifiers who will represent the Americas in the global contest.

Beyond securing their place in the world final, the national selection, comprising candidate chef Raúl Soto, commis Jorge Alejandro Salas Pereyra, and coach Édgar Román, was honored with a special award for "theme on a plate." This recognition celebrated the team's technical mastery, creativity, gastronomic identity, and the quality of their presentation, demonstrating how Mexican ingredients can align with the highest standards of global cuisine.

Gerardo Rivera, corporate chef at Grupo Posadas with over 38 years of experience, was present as a judge in the continental evaluation. He expressed immense pride in Mexico's achievement, stating, "That Mexico has once again secured its place in the world final is a cause for enormous pride. This result reflects the discipline, talent, and preparation of a new generation of cooks who are taking our gastronomy to the most important stages in the world."

The grand finale of the Bocuse d’Or is scheduled for January 24-25, 2027, in Lyon, France, coinciding with the renowned Sirha Lyon trade fair. The Mexican team will aim to showcase the country's culinary excellence against the world's best.
