Mexico repatriates 36 citizens affected by Colombia earthquake

The Mexican government has successfully repatriated 36 of its citizens who were in vulnerable situations in Colombia after the recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake. The group arrived early Wednesday morning at the Military Air Base in Santa Lucía, located in the central State of Mexico.

Their journey concluded at 00:30 local time aboard a Mexican Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft, which had previously been used to transport humanitarian aid to Colombia. The repatriated individuals were accompanied by personnel from Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Secretariat of National Defense. Officials confirmed that all 36 citizens are safe and in good health.

Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their assistance in facilitating the return. The Mexican Embassy in Colombia continues to support other nationals who remain in the country and require aid. This includes coordinating with commercial airlines for departures and assisting those displaced from damaged hotels. Beyond repatriation, Mexico has also dispatched significant humanitarian aid, with two Air Force planes carrying 19.5 tons of supplies, including food and medicine, to Pereira.
