Mexico wins gold in women's lightweight double sculls, bronze in men's at regional games

Mexico's rowing team achieved significant success at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, clinching gold in the women's lightweight double sculls and bronze in the men's event.

Melissa Márquez and Aylin Ibarra powered Mexico to the top of the podium in the women's lightweight double sculls. They completed the 2,000-meter course in 07:22.51 at the Rincón dam in Monseñor Nouel province, securing their country's first gold medal in rowing.

Venezuela's Keyla García and Kimberlin Meneses took silver with a time of 07:32.78, while Cuba's Ana Jiménez and Leah Almeida secured the bronze medal, finishing in 7:36.59.

In the men's lightweight double sculls, the Dominican Republic's Carlos Rodríguez and Ignacio Vásquez earned the silver medal, clocking in at 06:56.21. The gold medal went to Venezuela's José Guipe and César Amaris with a time of 06:48.30. Mexico's Rafael Mejía and Roberto Ahumada claimed the bronze, finishing in 06:59.74.
