MG HS price slashes by nearly $200 million at dealerships, rivaling A-segment SUVs

The MG HS SUV is currently undergoing unprecedented price cuts at dealerships across Vietnam, with discounts reaching almost $200 million VND. This aggressive sales strategy aims to make the C-segment SUV's actual selling price competitive with smaller A-segment models.

One dealership in Hanoi is offering the base MG HS model for 515 million VND, a substantial reduction of 184 million VND from its listed price of 699 million VND. The top-tier version has seen an even steeper discount, dropping by 199 million VND from 749 million VND to just 550 million VND. These promotional prices apply to all 2024 production year (VIN 2024) vehicles, marking one of the most significant price reductions for the MG HS since its introduction to the Vietnamese market.

Following these discounts, the MG HS's real-world price point now closely rivals that of A-segment SUVs like the Kia Sonet or Hyundai Venue, despite belonging to the larger C-segment. Its direct competitors in the C-segment include the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, and Ford Territory.

The MG HS available in Vietnam is a facelifted model featuring a refreshed exterior with sharp LED headlights, a large grille, and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The interior boasts a full digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch central infotainment screen, a Bose sound system, sporty seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. The higher-end variant includes a comprehensive ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) package.

Under the hood, the MG HS is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine producing 168 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Standard safety features include a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, ABS, EBD, and six airbags. The premium version adds the ADAS suite, offering adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

With its significantly reduced price, the MG HS presents a compelling option for budget-conscious buyers prioritizing features and technology within the 600 million VND range, especially in the increasingly competitive C-segment SUV market.
