Miaoli Introduces AIoT Mobile Calibration Vehicle for More Accurate Air Monitoring

Miaoli has added a new mobile safeguard to its air-quality monitoring network: an AIoT vehicle that travels around the county checking whether sensors are still measuring accurately.

The vehicle conducts synchronized monitoring alongside existing local sensors and compares the data. This allows officials to identify deviations caused by long-term operation or aging equipment, then use the findings to guide calibration, maintenance and equipment management.

The Environmental Protection Bureau said the vehicle carries a high-precision BAM-1020 automatic particulate monitor and functions as a mobile air-quality station. Its purpose is to make the county’s monitoring data more accurate, reliable and transparent.

Miaoli Environmental Protection Bureau Director Shen Feng-tai described the vehicle as a mobile gatekeeper for the air-quality Internet of Things network. Regular inspections and quality checks, she said, can detect abnormal equipment early, reduce the risk of gaps in monitoring and help keep the system operating steadily.

The bureau said it will continue using smart technology to improve monitoring management and provide residents with more timely and dependable air-quality information.
