Migrations activates new system: passport processed without appointment nationwide and by order of arrival, and here's how you can get it faster

Peru's National Migration Superintendency has implemented a new system that allows citizens to apply for electronic passports without needing a prior virtual appointment. Starting June 1, the new procedure operates on a first-come, first-served basis across all national service centers, aiming to expedite access to the essential travel document.

This modernization effort by Migraciones seeks to remove barriers for users. Applicants can now visit authorized service centers during operating hours, provided they meet the established requirements for obtaining an electronic passport. The previous system of virtual appointments has been entirely eliminated.

Juan Ramiro Alvarado Gómez, the National Superintendent of Migrations, stated that this change simplifies the process and offers more efficient service. He advised applicants to arrive early and ensure they have all necessary documentation prepared to avoid any issues during their visit.

To obtain the electronic passport, individuals must present a valid and intact National Identity Document (DNI) and pay a fee of S/120.90. This payment can be made at the Banco de la Nación, via the Págalo.pe platform, or directly at Migraciones agencies, which also accept electronic payments like Yape and POS terminals. Pilot programs were conducted to ensure the smooth functioning of the new system nationwide.
