Miguel Hidalgo Mayor Distances Himself from Fan Fest at Campo Marte

Miguel Hidalgo Mayor Mauricio Tabe has distanced himself from the Fan Fest event planned for Campo Marte, clarifying that it is a private event organized by the Federal Government's Secretariat of Tourism. Tabe stated that while the venue is within his jurisdiction, the event is not promoted by the Miguel Hidalgo mayor's office. He voiced concerns about placing additional responsibility on local governments without sufficient resources for security and cleaning.

It is a private event not organized by the Miguel Hidalgo mayor's office, it will take place at Campo Marte, which is located in the mayor's office, but it is not an event promoted by the mayor's office. We have already stated our point of view regarding placing more responsibility on governments and not having sufficient resources to meet all security and cleaning demands.

Tabe indicated his office would maintain communication with the city government and organizers to minimize the impact on external security and cleanliness around Campo Marte. He reiterated that authorization for the Fan Fest was already issued by the city's Civil Protection agency, directing any complaints or inquiries to the appropriate channels.

The mayor also expressed his disagreement with the local administration's guidelines to expand capacity in bars and restaurants near Campo Marte during the World Cup. He criticized these guidelines as a return to governance by presidential decree, disregarding legislation and making decisions based on the ruler's convenience.

We are going to maintain close communication with the Government of the City and the organizers to try to minimize the impact on security and cleaning outside Campo Marte, but what I do want to tell you is that this authorization of the Fan Fest at Campo Marte has already been issued by the Civil Protection of the Government of the City, I insist, it is an event promoted by the Secretariat of Tourism of the Federal Government so that complaints, suggestions and clarifications, refer them to the corresponding window.

Tabe stressed that these specific guidelines do not apply to tourist areas within his jurisdiction, meaning establishments in areas like Polanco cannot increase their capacity. His administration will monitor compliance with existing regulations regarding capacity, operating hours, and noise levels. He also announced plans to request the installation of four alcohol checkpoints within the district from the Secretariat of Citizen Security, particularly in areas expected to see large crowds during the World Cup.

My point of view is that those guidelines are a return to the times when we governed by presidential decrees, where legislation was set aside, where the law was set aside, and according to how the ruler felt the pulse of the City and its conveniences, that is how decisions were made.
