Minister awards NSCDC mining boss for curbing illegal activities

Nigeria's Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, has lauded Onoja Attah, the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals. She presented him with the Transformational Leadership Award at the Women in Security Summit and Awards in Abuja.

The minister commended Attah for his "legendary patriotism" and "sparkling contributions" that have significantly boosted Nigeria's mineral sector. She highlighted the crucial role the Mining Marshals have played under his leadership in protecting the nation's mineral resources and restoring order amidst concerns over illegal mining.

Attah, in turn, dedicated the award to the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, acknowledging his leadership in establishing the specialized unit. He emphasized that the recognition reflects the commitment and professionalism of the Mining Marshals.

I was at the table the day you were inaugurated as commander of the Mining Marshals, and it gladdens my heart that your exploits have been rewarding, encouraging and sparkling. Thank you for bringing sanity to the mining sector.

Looking ahead, Attah announced plans to integrate female NSCDC personnel into the Mining Marshals. He stated this initiative aligns with the corps' commitment to gender inclusion and modern security practices, believing it will strengthen operational effectiveness and create more opportunities for female officers in safeguarding Nigeria's mining sector.
