Police rescue four kidnapped victims in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security stakeholders, have successfully rescued four individuals who were kidnapped along the Lagos/Benin Expressway. The victims were abducted on July 30, 2026, by three armed men disguised in vigilante uniforms.

The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued four kidnapped hostages following a coordinated rescue operation by its operatives and other security stakeholders.

The abductors had blocked the Ugbokun axis of the expressway with logs and leaves, forcing motorists to stop before taking some occupants into the forest. Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Okada Division swiftly mobilized a joint team, including members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria and local hunters, to the scene.

An aggressive bush-combing operation, enhanced by drone technology, was launched to locate and rescue the hostages. The sustained pressure from the security operatives forced the kidnappers to flee, leaving behind Muritala Babatunde, Bello Aminat, Otor Prince, and Yeiyah Gift. The rescued individuals were unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.

The operatives immediately embarked on an aggressive bush-combing operation, enhanced by drone technology to search and aid the rescue mission.
