Minister Giménez Says Government Is Sending a “No More Taxes” Message

The government of Santiago Peña is presenting a message of “no more taxes” to Paraguay’s productive sector, Agriculture Minister Carlos Giménez said at the opening of the first Expo Concepción.

Speaking at the event, Giménez said the government wanted to accompany producers rather than impose additional taxes. “The government speaks of no more taxes, but of accompanying the productive sector,” he said. He described the administration’s message as support for a country that needs to work and produce more, as well as recognition of the daily effort of the men and women who sustain growth.

Mario Lino Apodaca, vice president of the Rural Association of Paraguay, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to northern Paraguay and its producers. At the exhibition, the grand champions from the different animal competitions also paraded in the central arena.

Apodaca said the association would defend security, private property, animal health, transparent markets and the freedom to produce. “We want a Paraguay where producing is a predictable activity, where effort is rewarded,” he said.

Luis Villalba Alvarenga, president of the association’s Concepción branch, and Concepción Governor Liz Meza also remembered Edelio Morínigo, Félix Urbieta and Óscar Denis, three Paraguayans who were kidnapped. Expo Concepción has been held since Aug. 31 at the Nanawa exhibition grounds, 2.5 kilometers east of the departmental capital, and is scheduled to close on Sept. 6.
