Ministry Distributes School Supplies to Madrasahs in NTT Affected by Flores Earthquake

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has provided essential educational supplies to students in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) who were affected by the Flores earthquake. A total of 1,000 school kits and 16 Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) were distributed to madrasahs (Islamic schools) impacted by the disaster.

Director General of Islamic Education Amien Suyitno emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that the earthquake does not disrupt children's right to education. "The government must be present to ensure they can still learn safely and adequately, while also providing support to the affected madrasahs," Suyitno stated. Initial assessments indicate that 72 madrasahs suffered damage, with the first phase of aid targeting 15 institutions in the most severe condition.

The temporary learning spaces are intended to facilitate the resumption of classes, while the school kits will support students' learning needs. Suyitno added that this assistance is part of a broader effort to expedite the recovery of educational services in the disaster zone. The ministry plans to continue coordinating and mapping the needs of affected madrasahs to ensure learning can proceed sustainably for all students in the region.
