Missing Hiker Found Dead on Mount Hwaak in Gapyeong

A 60-year-old man has been found dead after going missing on Mount Hwaak in Gapyeong, South Korea. The man had been hiking with a group of 35 people who had traveled by bus to the mountain for recreational activities, including water play in a valley.

According to police and fire authorities, a report was received on the afternoon of August 5th stating that one member of the hiking group had not returned. Firefighters deployed a response team, a 119 rescue unit, and a special response team with a rescue dog for a night search, but the man was not found.

Search efforts resumed the following day. Around 7:10 AM on August 6th, rescuers discovered what is believed to be the man's mobile phone. Nearby, they found the man, but he was already deceased. No external injuries or signs of criminal activity were immediately apparent.

The police plan to request a detailed investigation into the cause of death from the National Forensic Service. The man's body showed no signs of foul play.
