Missing man found dead near canal in Turkey

Rahim Ergün, a 53-year-old man who had been reported missing, was found dead near a canal in the Aratol Bahçeli neighborhood of Aksaray, Turkey. Ergün had been missing for five days before his discovery.

His ex-wife reported him missing to the police on June 2, stating she had lost contact with him. The Provincial Security Directorate's Public Order Branch initiated a search operation following the report.

During the ongoing search, Ergün was found lying motionless and unconscious by the side of the irrigation canal. Emergency health teams who arrived at the scene confirmed his death. Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, and the Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated a formal inquiry.

Notably, Rahim Ergün had previously been in the news in March when his mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, reportedly did not recognize him and refused him entry into their home. That incident was captured on camera.
