Missing music legend Linda Perhacs found safe after eight months

Music legend Linda Perhacs has been found safe after an eight-month period of uncertainty, her manager Laurel Stearns confirmed.

"We are delighted to announce that songwriter and performer Linda Perhacs has been located and is safe," Stearns stated. "Her friends, collaborators, and members of the music community were concerned about not being able to reach Linda, and her disappearance was reported to the police. Law enforcement has now confirmed she has been found and is safe."

Stearns expressed gratitude to law enforcement and everyone who shared information and offered support. "We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the search by sharing information, offering assistance, and expressing genuine concern for Linda's well-being. The outpouring from fans, musicians, journalists, and the entire creative community once again reminded us of the profound impact Linda's music has had on people," she said.

The singer's Instagram account announced on Thursday, July 30, that she is safe and in a new care facility. "Thank you all for your messages and thoughts. The community has truly come together to ensure Linda's well-being," the post read.

Perhacs' disappearance was first reported on Monday, July 27, via an Instagram post by Stearns. Friends and colleagues had expressed concern for her care after she was released from a long-term care facility approximately eight months prior. "Dear fans of Linda Perhacs, we need your help. Linda is missing," the post stated. "About eight months ago, with the knowledge of a legal guardian, Linda Perhacs was released from a care facility. Since then, her friends and colleagues have been unable to contact her, and attempts to reach her guardian have also gone unanswered."

At the time, Stearns told People that the individuals posting were "not blaming anyone" but simply wanted confirmation that Perhacs was safe and receiving proper care, expressing concern over the prolonged lack of contact with the "beloved public figure."

Writer Jessica Hundley told Rolling Stone that Perhacs suffers from dementia. Hundley and others had "approached the care facility and filed multiple reports with the police, and eventually hired a private investigator to help locate her."
