Missing Nigerian woman found safe in Doha, NCAA official says

Saratu Jibo, the Nigerian woman whose disappearance in Doha prompted concern among her family and fellow Nigerians, has been found safe, according to a Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority official.

Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, said he spoke directly with the 37-year-old woman and confirmed her safety. He said Customs officials had temporarily held her mobile phone and international passport while seeking clarification on unspecified issues, leaving her unable to contact her family or anyone else.

Achimugu said authorities later cleared Jibo and released her, and that she recovered her belongings. She has also contacted her family. Jibo expressed appreciation to Nigerians who had followed the case and shown concern over her disappearance.

Achimugu praised Yusuf Adesoga, a Nigerian who visited security agencies across Doha during the search and eventually traced Jibo to where she was found. He called Adesoga’s intervention exemplary. He also commended Jibo’s brother, Jonathan, who raised the alarm after she stopped responding to calls and messages for more than 48 hours.

Jibo had travelled from Lagos to Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR1408. Earlier checks confirmed through the airline that she arrived safely, collected her luggage and left the airport terminal. Achimugu said he now considered the matter closed from his end, while thanking Nigerians who supported the search.
