Mitsotakis: No easy solutions for inflation, highlights new government platforms

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has stated that tackling high prices remains one of the country's biggest challenges, emphasizing that there are no simple or magical solutions. Speaking about government initiatives, Mitsotakis highlighted the new platform posokanei.gov.gr, designed to enhance consumer transparency by allowing price comparisons for over 9,000 products and tracking their price evolution. He clarified that the platform does not aim to shift the responsibility of price controls to consumers but rather to inform them. "Posokanei is here to stay," Mitsotakis remarked, adding that it will be continuously improved. The prime minister also presented the "Home Renovation" program, accessible via anakainisi.apps.gov.gr, which offers incentives for renovating old or vacant homes. This initiative subsidizes up to 95% of renovation costs, capped at 36,000 euros, targeting low and middle-income households. The program aims to bring up to 20,000 properties back into the market to address housing supply shortages. Furthermore, Mitsotakis referenced the axiologisi.ypes.gov.gr platform for evaluating public services, encouraging greater citizen participation. He also touched upon cultural heritage projects, including the restoration of the Parthenon's west pediment and other sites in Symi, Rhodes, and Chalki, funded by the Recovery Fund, calling cultural investment a "continuous national obligation."
