MLB's 'Field of Dreams' Game Returns in 2027 with Royals Hosting Red Sox

Major League Baseball has announced that the "Field of Dreams" game will return in 2027, featuring the Kansas City Royals as the home team against the Boston Red Sox. The highly anticipated event is scheduled for August 12, 2027, in Dyersville, Iowa, the iconic location inspired by the beloved 1989 film of the same name.

This marks the fourth iteration of the "Field of Dreams" game, a unique tradition that brings MLB action to the cornfields of Iowa. Following the game in Dyersville, the Royals and Red Sox will continue their series with two additional games on August 14 and 15 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. MLB and Universal Pictures are collaborating on the event, with NBC Sports providing exclusive coverage.

Organizers anticipate the game will be "incredibly special" for the players involved. The event draws inspiration from the movie starring Kevin Costner, where a farmer builds a baseball field after hearing a mysterious voice, leading to the appearance of legendary players. The first "Field of Dreams" game in 2021 saw the Chicago White Sox defeat the New York Yankees, ending with a walk-off home run.

Following the inaugural game, the tradition continued with the Chicago Cubs facing the Cincinnati Reds in 2022. MLB then paused the event for four seasons to allow for renovations to the Dyersville site. The recent "Field of Dreams" game, which saw the Philadelphia Phillies defeat the Minnesota Twins 7-1, was broadcast on Netflix and featured special uniforms inspired by past eras of both franchises.
