Mo Abudu to open UK’s first-ever cinema hub for African, black films

Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu is set to open the United Kingdom's first cinema hub exclusively for African and Black films. Named EbonyLife Place London, the venue is slated to officially open its doors in October in the Wandsworth area. Abudu announced the upcoming launch on social media, sharing a video of the property and describing it as the UK's inaugural cultural and creative hub devoted entirely to African cinematic culture. "EbonyLife Place London will become the first cinema in the United Kingdom dedicated exclusively to African and Black films, while also creating a vibrant cultural hub celebrating our fashion, music, food and art," Abudu stated. The space is designed to offer visitors more than just a cinematic experience, incorporating several distinct areas. These include the Grand Reception, The Afrobeat Restaurant, Fèhintì Lounge, Maji Concession & Bar, Zuri Retail, and The Living Wall Gallery. This London initiative marks an expansion of the EbonyLife Place brand beyond Nigeria, establishing a significant presence in the UK. The new venue is positioned as a key space for showcasing African storytelling, culture, and entertainment.
