Mohd. Haris appointed new Chairman of Malaysian Palm Oil Association

Mohd. Haris Mohd. Arshad, currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of SD Guthrie Berhad, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) for the 2026-2028 term. The decision was made during the 27th MPOA Annual General Meeting held at Royale Chulan Damansara.

The MPOA stated that Mohd. Haris is a highly experienced industry leader who will bring decades of expertise to propel the association into its next phase of growth. He possesses over 30 years of global experience in the downstream sector, with a focus on commodity trading, procurement, and strategic transformation. Mohd. Haris is recognized for his visionary leadership in driving operational excellence within the industry.

He succeeds Datuk Lee Yeow Chor, who served as MPOA Chairman for six years with notable dedication and leadership. In addition to his new role at MPOA, Mohd. Haris holds influential positions that shape the future of Malaysia's palm oil industry. He chairs Sustainable Palm Oil Malaysia (MSPO) and the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (PORAM), driving national standards, sustainability initiatives, and global competitiveness.

Furthermore, he is a member of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) Board of Trustees, advocating for the development of the nation's palm oil trade and marketing. In his new capacity, Mohd. Haris will oversee the strategic direction of MPOA and collaborate closely with the executive leadership team to advance the interests of the palm oil industry, aiming for a sustainable, competitive, and prosperous future.
