Moldova's foreign ministry condemns violation of airspace, explosion of aerial object

Moldova's foreign ministry has strongly condemned the violation of its sovereign airspace by an unidentified aerial object that subsequently exploded within the country's borders. The incident occurred on Monday near the settlement of Talmaza, close to the border with Ukraine.

Authorities reported that the aerial object entered Moldovan airspace at 17:37 local time and exploded shortly thereafter, igniting a grass fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The origin of the object remains unidentified. The ministry stated, "This incident constitutes a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and poses a direct risk to the safety of our citizens. Such incidents are unacceptable."

Moldova, which shares a border with Ukraine and supports Kyiv in the ongoing conflict with Russia, has experienced previous incidents involving drones and debris near its border. This latest event underscores the potential risks to its territory and citizens amidst regional instability.

In a related development, a Russian drone was shot down over neighboring Romania by an F-18 fighter jet conducting a NATO air policing mission. This marks the fourth unmanned aircraft intercepted over Romania this year. A spokesperson for NATO confirmed the alliance's constant vigilance and readiness to defend against any threat.
