Montevideo's 'Center Day' returns in June 2026 with discounts and free parking

Montevideo's "Día del Centro" (Center Day) is set to return in June 2026, offering shoppers a prime opportunity to find gifts for Grandparents' Day with special discounts in the city's central commercial district. The event, which encompasses the Centro, Cordón, and Ciudad Vieja neighborhoods, will take place from June 11 to 13, 2026. As a special incentive, shoppers will receive three hours of free parking during their first visit each day, a continuation of a policy introduced in December 2024. This initiative aims to boost local businesses and attract visitors to the open-air shopping area.

Beyond the shopping discounts, Paseo Centro is also organizing an Environmental Fair on June 6 in Plaza Cagancha. This event, a collaboration with the Municipality B and Montevideo's Socio-environmental Unit, will feature various tourist, social, and educational initiatives, alongside recycling projects and urban gardens. Live music performances and environmentally focused city tours are also planned, offering a blend of commerce, community engagement, and environmental awareness.

The "Día del Centro" initiative highlights efforts to revitalize Montevideo's downtown area and promote local commerce. The extended parking benefit aims to ease access for shoppers, encouraging them to explore the diverse range of businesses located within the Paseo Centro.
