More Than Law: UBSI Law Degree Prepares Legal Talent for the Digital Era

As digital technology reshapes business, transactions, data management and corporate governance, UBSI’s Margonda campus is promoting its new undergraduate law program as a route into a changing professional world.

The program presents legal education as more than the study of statutes and legal provisions. Students are expected to develop critical thinking, analyze problems, understand regulations and examine social and business issues through a legal perspective.

The university points to growing legal demands around digital transactions, data protection, intellectual property, business contracts and corporate compliance. Those needs extend beyond courts and government offices to technology companies, banks, creative industries, startups and other organizations.

Graduates may build careers in corporate legal affairs, legal officer positions, compliance, contract management, industrial relations, legal consulting, policy analysis and research, subject to the relevant educational and professional requirements.

The program also introduces students to influential Indonesian legal thinkers. Soepomo played an important role in the country’s constitutional history, Mochtar Kusumaatmadja developed the idea of law as a tool for social renewal, and Satjipto Rahardjo became known for progressive law. UBSI presents these ideas as a way to show that law develops alongside society, social change and national development, rather than standing apart as a collection of rules.
